Series on Bonteheuwel, a township on the cape flats, southeast of Cape Town, South Africa.
As a legacy of apartheid, it's occupied by a rich diversity of people of cape coloured decent. Housing shortages, unemployemnt, crime and gang activity is high.

In my work I don’t seek the sole recording of reality, but by fully integrating myself, I try to investigate emotions, balancing between the literal and the indefinable, using intimacy and closeness in a direct and poetic way. In leaps of imagination rather than storytelling, I look at the quick changes, the hidden layers about what stays, is staying and what is changing or fading.
In this respect it’s not my insight into the world around me that matters but my most close rapport with it, using the language of the instinct and the flesh as the most pure defence against nothingness and fear, warding off death and living up to an amorous view of life.
It’s all about the vulnerability and impossibility, the fragility and absurdity of being alive.
